With details about the devices trickling down in a steady stream, the upcoming smartphones are starting to take shape. Here is a quick rundown of the latest rumors about the Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL.

The Pixel series, since it debuted in 2016, are famed for their cameras. Released at a time when Apple started the trend of adopting dual camera sensors, the Pixel opted for a premium single-lens approach. Much to the surprise of smartphone fans, the Pixel actually featured what could very well be the best camera in its class during 2016. Last year, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL adopted the same approach, taking on the competition with a single-lens shooter, and just like the first-generation devices, the two flagships proved to be one of the best, giving even the iPhone X’s dual camera sensor a run for its money.

Click here to continue and read more...

While the original Apple Watch was still a step above the competition when it was released, the wearable was nonetheless bogged down by its software and lack of “killer apps,” which pretty much made the device into a very expensive accessory and very little else.

One notable aspect of the Apple Watch that its first users have grievances with was the fact that its operating system was not fully optimized yet. Users mostly praised the device for its sleek design and physical controls, but its software was a completely different story. Over time, however, Apple’s Watch OS managed to find its stride, and the Apple Watch began standing on its own.

Click here to continue and read more...

With the release of Andromeda seemingly getting closer by the day, more information about the upcoming device continues to trickle down in a steady stream.

Take the latest information about Andromeda, for example. According to a Digital Trends report, unnamed sources from Microsoft have stated that the upcoming device will feature phone capabilities. The device is not classified as a smartphone per se, considering that it is more of a smaller, more advanced extension of the Surface Pro line, but the device would definitely have cellular capabilities. If the sources are correct, Andromeda, or the Surface Phone, for that matter, would likely be equipped with 4G LTE connectivity, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Click here to continue and read more...

Large, both in size and in raw specs, the Galaxy Note phablets have managed to carve a unique niche for Samsung among power users who require a lot of horsepower from their mobile devices.

One of the Galaxy Note series’ main draws is its versatile stylus, aptly dubbed the S-Pen. Over the years, the S-Pen has proven to be one of the most reliable, advanced, and feature-ridden smartphone accessories in the market. Considering its various uses, the S-Pen has become a feature that closes the gap between Samsung’s flagship-grade units and Apple’s smartphones. If recent reports are any indication, it seems like the South Korean tech giant is preparing something special for enthusiasts of the premium phablet with its upcoming 2018 device, the Galaxy Note 9.

Click here to continue and read more...

The 2015 MacBook, for one, got rid of all ports except one USB-C port, starting a dongle dependency that bogs down even the most high-end MacBook Pros of today. In 2016, Apple unveiled the iPhone 7, a smartphone that is essentially an upgraded iPhone 6S, save for the fact that it does not have a headphone jack. Apple’s reason then? Courage. Courage to take off the legacy port that remains useful until today.

Since then, however, the market has adapted, and even Apple’s staunchest critics have followed the company’s lead into a headphone jack-less aesthetic. Even Google, which openly mocked the iPhone 7 for its lack of a headphone jack when it introduced the Pixel and Pixel XL, ultimately followed Apple with the release of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. So far, only Apple’s biggest rival — Samsung — has not adopted a headphone jack-less design for its flagship smartphones.

Click here to continue and read more...

Take Google, for example. The tech company has already released its own smartwatch-focused operating system, Wear OS. Previously known as Wear OS by Android and Android Wear, the Android-based operating system was initially released back in March of 2014 and has gone through numerous revisions since. The latest release, version 2.10, dropped back in mid-March, and a developer preview build is already available for version 3.0.

Google, unlike Apple, has not yet manufactured their own line of smartwatches, opting instead to form partnerships with third parties. To date, companies including Asus, Casio, Fossil, LG, and Sony have developed their own smartwatch hardware, with Google’s Wear OS serving as the software backbone.

Click here to continue and read more...

Currently one of the most popular phones in the world – with the Galaxy S9 having launched globally to great acclaim in an attempt to recapture the top spot from Apple’s iPhone – The India Times reports that Samsung is positioned to make some big moves.

A new report from South Korea indicates that at least a few major changes are likely to be present, differentiating the existing S9 line-up from next year’s S10 model, according to TechRadar. We can expect the smartphone manufacturer to drop the often criticized iris scanner in favor of a 3D face scanning technology, similarly to that currently on offer from Apple’s competing iPhone X, a wildly popular feature that has become the industry standard moving forward.

Click here to continue and read more...

According to Astronomy, Alan Chan has managed to successfully create the surface of Mars for his game using the work of NASA’s Mars orbiter as his guide with both terrain and satellite data, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the Martian environment.

Click here to continue and read more...

A new study published in the Journal of Marketing Management has revealed that online trolls are receiving tangible and psychological rewards for their actions. The report also states that these trolls are receiving financial compensation for it too.

According to Newsweek, the study was conducted by Maja Golf-Papez, a postgraduate student from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Her intention, the article says, was to examine the “phenomenon” of online trolling from the business/marketing side of things.

Golf-Papez said that she tried to interview some trolls for her research, but soon learned that they were difficult to find because they had been banned from some of the more popular platforms online.

“Good trolls are elusive and, I find, highly intelligent characters,” she said. “They know how to look after themselves and operate within but on the fringes of the law.”

Click here to continue and read more...

TSMC’s 5nm chips are expected to be rolled out in Apple’s future iPhone and iPad series, which are set for release a few years from now.

During his talk at the symposium, Wei noted that the company’s ongoing production ramp for its 7nm chips is going well, with capacity hitting 12 million in 2018. These figures correspond to a 9 percent increase from the company’s production output in year-on-year, when TSMC manufactured 10.5 million units. As noted in a DigiTimes report, however, the company did not elaborate on the specific orders from its high-profile customers such as Apple.

Click here to continue and read more...

Two of these smartphones are expected to be successors to the premium 2017 iPhone X, with one being a 5.8-inch model and the other being a hefty 6.5-inch variant. Now, the spotlight is on Apple’s “other” handset — its budget-friendly, 6.1-inch LCD-equipped iPhone.

Just recently, Ghostek, a smartphone case manufacturer, has provided a render of what the 6.1-inch iPhone would really look like, bringing the yet-to-be-released smartphone to life based on files that reportedly were sourced from the device’s production line. As could be seen in the case maker’s render, there are some differences between the lower-priced 6.1-inch LCD iPhone and its more premium counterparts.

Click here to continue and read more...

Called Creator, the restaurant features an entirely robotic kitchen staff: everything from the grinding of the meat, the cooking, and placement of toppings is done by machines. The ingredients are premium and fresh and the price tag is good: people will enjoy these burgers at just $6 each. The restaurant is located at 680 Folsom St., according to Bloomberg. The human employees will restock ingredients, and concierge members will take orders.

Creator is the result of many years of work by highly skilled people. The restaurant has been in the same location for two years, where the Creator team worked to put together the amazing setup. The founder is Alex Vardakostas, who started working on the project in 2012. His team is comprised of engineers, designers, and roboticists from some of the biggest names in the industry, like Apple, Tesla, and NASA.

Click here to continue and read more...

For those who are unaware, this company is based in Europe, but has had an extremely limited availability in the Western hemisphere; that snag probably explains why many may not be aware of this maker. Creators of these mobiles have placed focus on finding breakthrough technology and innovative engineering geared toward the selfie experience of smartphones. Needless to say, young people love these devices. Most recently, the brand plans to launch internationally, according to Extreme Tech. They will be bringing the newest Oppo Find X to the table in August of 2018. This smartphone dares to go for unfamiliar domain with new camera technology that may even cause Apple to do a double take. Not only do they bring ferociously new ideas, but Oppo has also partnered with a luxury car brand, Lamborghini.

Click here to continue and read more...

And according to The Week, these efforts violate Americans’ privacy and civil liberties.

The Department of Homeland Security is working on a new database called HART, which is short for The Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology. HART is an all-encompassing database. For each person in the database, HART has biometric face and voice data, as well as information on any tattoos, scars, “physical descriptors,” and even the person’s DNA. Currently, HART reportedly has over 500 million people in the database, which include U.S. citizens but also foreigners. HART is expected to be fully operational by 2021, but it will be rolled out as early as next year. By the following year, HART is expected to have iris and facial matching abilities.

Click here to continue and read more...
